About TRIBES

TRIBES is a social discovery app built on perception. People read each other through Tribes, and each person can see how the community reads them, next to how they read themselves.

The idea

On most apps, you describe yourself. On TRIBES, other people have a say too. You pick 1 to 3 Tribes for yourself, and the people who see your photo pick the Tribes they think fit you.

Neither is the right answer. The interesting part is how the two compare: where the community reads you the way you read yourself, and where it doesn't.

Flames are limited, so showing interest means something. There's no chat inside the app: when two people match, they continue on apps they already use.

What we hold to

  • Perception, not judgment

    TRIBES never rates, ranks or scores people. A read is one person’s view, and there is no right answer.

  • Photos lead

    Profiles have no names, ages or bios. What people learn about each other comes from reads.

  • Your own Tribes are yours

    The Tribes you pick for yourself are never shown to anyone. They are there so you can compare.

  • Scarce on purpose

    Flames are limited, so interest means something. Every swipe comes with a read.

  • Safety first

    Only for adults 18 or older, with blocking and reporting, country-level location, and social links shown only to matches.

Where TRIBES is now

TRIBES is in testing. We're learning whether reading each other through Tribes feels fun and affirming, and whether limited Flames make interest mean more. What testers tell us shapes what we build next.
